People see the commercial for P90X everywhere. I wanted to find out if it actually worked, and if it could be a useful exercise routine for runners. I traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with P90X founder Tony Horton and run a 5K race with him. I also got on the program myself. Turns out that there’s a lot of validity to what he’s selling.

In 1998, I ran the Rome Marathon and wrote about it for Windy City Sports magazine. It was the early days of international racing, before online registration and Marathon Tours. Turns out that just signing up was the toughest part of the race.
